I just returned from another vacation in Thailand. Sano0k Mahk Khrap! Otto Ubel and I spent about five days in Korat in October, 2001.
This is a shot of the where the Starlight Bar used to be. It is now the site of a 24 Hr Mini Mart. I tried to shoot this from the exact spot I took the photo of the Starlight from in 1972 (29 yrs ago)

I visited Thailand again in Oct (as I do every Year). Otto, Gene Ponce and I visited Korat for about three days and we spent one day on Base with USAF Capt Ken MaGee (who is stationed there on Active Duty-"Lucky Guy"). Thanks to Jungle Jim for setting it up for us.

View from my Hootch in 1972
Since my recent trip to Korat AB in October, I've been just a little perplexed as to the exact location of my Hootch (#664), in perspective to the Base Gym and the Water Tower. Thirty two years is a long time ya know! The Gym and the Tower are the only permanent landmarks left that I could gauge from. Otto Uebel knows. He sat in an airconditioned SUV while I walked around in circles (in the Thai Heat) for what seemed to him like hours. Anyway, I just ran across this photo that I took from my Bunk (inside the Hootch) in 1972. Take a look at it and then compare it to the recent photos I took of the Gym with the Tower in the background. No doubt about it now, I had it exactly right. My mind is a rest now!
